Corporate Associate

Houston – £310,000

An Am Law Top 20 firm is seeking midlevel M&A associates to join its Corporate Practice Group in Dallas. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic team handling sophisticated mergers, acquisitions, and general corporate transactions for a diverse and prestigious client base.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent private equity sponsors, independent sponsors, portfolio companies, and public or private companies in M&A transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate key transactional documents, including operating and partnership agreements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external specialists, managing all aspects of deal execution.
  • Lead signing and closing processes while supervising and mentoring junior associates.
  • Support clients with capital raises, debt and securities offerings, and portfolio company management.
Qualifications:
  • Strong academic background with stellar credentials.
  • Admission to the Texas Bar.
  • 4+ years experience with M&A transactions, including drafting, negotiating, and managing critical transaction documents.
  • Superior drafting, research, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated diligence, attention to detail, proactivity, and a team-oriented mindset.

1. What were you doing before you joined Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment?

Prior to starting at Douglas Scott, I graduated from The University of Strathclyde with a Psychology degree. I then joined another legal recruitment firm in Manchester where I focused on the Chicago legal market for 10 months.

2. What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I am looking forward to getting to know the team at Douglas Scott. I am also excited to gain expertise in a new legal market hopefully making lots of successful placements!

3. If you weren’t in recruitment what would you be doing?

If I didn’t go into recruitment, I would have most likely completed my master’s in forensic psychology and pursued a career in that field.

Something people might not know is I was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland.
