Commercial Technology Associate

London – £120,000 - £140,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and ambitious Associate to join a top-tier Technology & Commercial Transactions team. This role focuses on commercial contract drafting in the technology sector, with exposure to complex matters in data protection, outsourcing, software development, and digital transformation.

You will work with high-profile clients in sectors such as financial services, retail, manufacturing, and online industries, advising them on the exploitation and protection of technology, data, and intellectual property.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts in the technology sector, including IT outsourcing, software development, and licensing agreements.
  • Advising clients on data protection, cyber security, and confidentiality, with a focus on compliance and risk management.
  • Supporting clients with intellectual property transactions and disputes, particularly involving cutting-edge technology and high-value data.
  • Providing practical, succinct, and commercial legal advice that balances both legal and business considerations.
  • Contributing to the development of strong client relationships, ensuring high-quality, timely service.
  • Collaborating with international clients and working closely with overseas law firms.
  • Actively participating in knowledge-sharing and thought leadership initiatives within the team.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Qualified Solicitor with 1-5 years PQE, ideally with experience in commercial contract drafting, particularly in the technology sector.
  • Strong understanding of technology law, including data protection, IP, and privacy law, and a keen interest in digital transformation and fintech.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal matters while delivering clear, commercial solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with a strong commercial awareness.
