I am working on behalf of a top global law firm to find a talented Associate to join their growing Employment and Labour practice in Edinburgh or Glasgow

The Role
As an Associate in the Employment and Labour team, you’ll work on a fascinating mix of matters, including:
  • HR advisory services.
  • Employment tribunal litigation.
  • M&A and outsourcing transactions.
  • Collaborating on large-scale global projects within the firm’s network.
The role will also include maintaining strong client relationships, contributing to business development, and participating in thought leadership initiatives.

The Team
The team specialises in stand-alone employment law work but also supports corporate, restructuring, TMT, and real estate departments, ensuring exposure to a wide variety of work. They are recognised for their innovative, practical solutions and exceptional litigation practice.
 
You’ll also work alongside experts in Reward, pensions, and immigration, broadening your professional skill set.
 
Your Responsibilities
  • Supporting transactions across sectors, including international projects and global HR work.
  • Providing advice on day-to-day employment law issues for a range of clients.
  • Representing clients in employment tribunal claims.
  • Advising on TUPE, outsourcing, restructuring, and redundancies.
  • Drafting contracts, policies, and staff handbooks.
  • Delivering client training and seminars.
  • Engaging in business development and raising the firm’s external profile.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
  • Employment tribunal claims and employee relations matters such as grievances and disciplinaries.
  • TUPE, outsourcing, and redundancy processes.
  • Employment support work, including due diligence reports and drafting warranties/indemnities.
  • Legal research on employment law issues.
  • Business development and client training.

1. What were you doing before you joined Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment?

Prior to starting at Douglas Scott, I graduated from The University of Strathclyde with a Psychology degree. I then joined another legal recruitment firm in Manchester where I focused on the Chicago legal market for 10 months.

2. What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I am looking forward to getting to know the team at Douglas Scott. I am also excited to gain expertise in a new legal market hopefully making lots of successful placements!

3. If you weren’t in recruitment what would you be doing?

If I didn’t go into recruitment, I would have most likely completed my master’s in forensic psychology and pursued a career in that field.

Something people might not know is I was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland.
