Motor & Casualty Litigation Executive

Manchester – £24,000 - £26,000

The firm are currently recruiting for an experienced Litigation Executive to join their Motor & Casualty Volume Department based in their Manchester office from 1 day per week, more days may be required depending on training requirements. 

The Role
In this role you will not only be working independently but as part of a successful Motor & Casualty team. The ideal candidate will have completed a law degree/GDL/LPC or equivalent qualifications and have previous file handling experience or worked in the insurance industry.

The role holder will deal with mainly litigated small claims/fast track case load of files and assist other Fee Earners as and when required, with an average case load of 100 files.

The Main Duties:
  • File Handling own case load of defendant litigated small claims and fast track and MOJ files
  • Competent at dealing with files on a delegated and non-delegated basis and complying with client SLAs
  • Reviewing quantum, valuing general and special damages and finalising case plans including advice as to next steps
  • Referring cases for supervision and guidance so as to ensure the correct procedure and process is followed
  • Entering into telephone negotiations, liaising with third party solicitors and insurers, own insurer clients and lay clients’ and recording the outcome of those approaches
  • Drafting documents including, applications, offers, proposed orders, directions etc.
  • Attending telephone conferences/applications/court hearings
  • Working to Court Deadlines and Managing time in an effective manner using organisational skills and case management system

The Candidate
  • The successful candidate will ideally have experience of claim handling a litigated caseload preferable a defendant case load.
  • Knowledge of the CPR, the SRA Code of Conduct and their application 
  • Knowledge of motor insurance would be preferable
  • Familiarity with medical reports would be needed
  • Able to meet/exceed billing target.

I love true crime documentaries and it scares my boyfriend to no end how calm I am when I watch them! I suppose that is where the love of the legal industry comes from.
