Labor & Employment Associate

USA – £260,000

Our client, a distinguished Am Law Top 100 law firm, is seeking an experienced Associate to join their highly regarded Labor and Employment Practice. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team nationally ranked by Chambers USA and recognized by “Best Law Firms.” The role offers the flexibility to be based in any of the firm’s U.S. offices.
 
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will engage in a diverse and challenging workload across a range of employment and labor issues, with a client base that includes regional, national, and multinational companies. Key responsibilities include:
  • Advising clients on complex employment compliance matters, such as worker classification, wage and hour regulations, immigration, union and collective bargaining matters, employment policies, and equal opportunity laws.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment agreements, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants.
  • Counseling on reductions-in-force, WARN Act issues, and other employment law compliance.
  • Performing employment-related due diligence and handling employment representations and covenants in transaction documents.
  • Handling litigation matters within the Labor & Employment space, including general litigation, class actions, wage and hour disputes, and trade secret issues.
Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:
  • A minimum of 3–7 years of employment law experience, preferably from a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Admission to Texas bar.
  • Superior academic credentials and an affinity for research and writing.
  • Strong writing, oral communication, and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail and an organized approach.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting pleadings, motions, and conducting legal research at a high level.
  • Proven ability to manage a fast-paced, complex workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a team-oriented, collaborative approach and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.

1. What were you doing before you joined Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment?

Prior to starting at Douglas Scott, I graduated from The University of Strathclyde with a Psychology degree. I then joined another legal recruitment firm in Manchester where I focused on the Chicago legal market for 10 months.

2. What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I am looking forward to getting to know the team at Douglas Scott. I am also excited to gain expertise in a new legal market hopefully making lots of successful placements!

3. If you weren’t in recruitment what would you be doing?

If I didn’t go into recruitment, I would have most likely completed my master’s in forensic psychology and pursued a career in that field.
