A good mixture of clients and candidates attended the Social Media seminars we commissioned in Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool.
Tom Cheesewright kindly shared his wisdom and knowledge of all things online. Tom appears regularly on BBC Radio Manchester, reviewing gadgets (sounds great ed.) and providing comment on technology issues across the station's other shows. He has also appeared on national TV and radio, commenting on ITV's digital strategy and the government's broadband plans for 5Live and BBC Radio Wales, and talking about social media on BBC One's The Big Questions. So, a big cheese if you like.
What did we take away from the seminars? Well firstly that the likes of facebook, linkedin and twitter are music to budget holders' ears as all are currently free and so return on investment can be huge. Secondly handle with care, online marketing is similar to offline in that if you take the wrong journey you can find yourself in a bit of bother. You need to control and manage content and shape the direction of your online marketing presence . Finally the more you put in the more you get out. If you want to use Social Media to market your company or department's services then commit to a minimum level of activity a day or per week and keep it up. There is nothing worse than a blog or twitter account missing some TLC.
So thanks to all who attended and provided some excellent feedback some of our favourites being "Wham bam thank you, ma'am, my questions are answered!" and "May I say thank you for your excellent presentation earlier today. There was much in the way of food for the tech-starved mind!" LOL.
We have promised Tom that we will become a case study for him and have committed to extra blogging, twitter and to smarten up a facebook page. Watch this space and to keep up to date with us and our social media progress, follow us on Twitter
