Our 2013 Salary and Benefits Bench Marker declared that it was Personal Injury and Insurance Paralegals and some Property Lawyers who were the highest paid amongst their peers. Well, with Jackson putting Personal Injury into a tailspin and conversely, the government seemingly backing the housing market to drag us out of recession, we are predicting that Property Paralegals will take the top spot again as demand, then wages, rise in 2013!
It is an interesting time for the housing market; the Help to Buy initiative revealed in the recent budget caught most of us by surprise and there also seems to be more liquidity in the lending market. Ruth Matthew of Todays Conveyancer reported that "first time buyer activity was at a four year high", confirming that more affordable mortgages are starting to come back on the market and that residential valuations were also on the rise. Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment have also noted the increase in demand for Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers and non-qualified Property Lawyers having recently placed into North West, Yorkshire, Midlands, London and South East based firms.
"Demand for experienced Conveyancers is just starting to outstrip supply" advised Lee Traylor, Recruitment Consultant at Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment. "There will be blood in Personal Injury market place as the industry faces up to post Jackson challenges but we are expecting Conveyancing salaries to keep going up. It might not be long before they are back on the top spot in the Private Client legal services market!"
Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment are helping firms with their hires and assisting Residential Conveyancers with career moves.
