Patent Litigation Associate

London – £100,000 - £130,000

Our client is a leading law firm with a global client base, specializing in the life sciences and technology sectors. The firm’s Patent Litigation team is consistently ranked in the top tier across all major directories. This group combines technical expertise across key scientific and engineering disciplines with extensive litigation experience, making it one of the most formidable patent litigation practices in the UK.

The team makeup is the largest dedicated patent litigation groups in the country. The team is heavily involved in a wide range of patent disputes, including infringement and validity cases, entitlement disputes, Standard Essential Patent (SEP) issues, and licensing disputes. Their work frequently spans international borders, requiring the coordination of litigation efforts outside the UK.

The Role
Our client is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate with 2-5 years PQE to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent litigation and be comfortable working within partner-led teams, while also being able to take on significant responsibility.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Handling various types of patent disputes, including infringement, validity, and ownership issues.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on related matters such as life sciences regulation, competition law, and licensing disputes.
  • Engaging in business development activities and contributing to knowledge management within the team.
  • Depending on seniority, managing and mentoring junior lawyers.
Ideal candidates will have:
  • First-rate legal skills and experience in patent litigation.
  • A strong interest in business development and the ability to engage in client-facing activities.
  • The ability to fit naturally into a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
